Its history is rich, from its construction in the 15th and 16th centuries, on foundations from the 13th century, through its remodelling in the 18th and 19th centuries, to its remarkable modernisation in the last few years.
The Chateau was part of the royal domain of Issoudun. In the 13th century, this fiefdom belonged to the Rabeau family. From 1400 to 1577, it belonged to de La Broce family, probably an Italian family, whose name is Frenchized as de Brosse. To thank them for their loyalty, Charles VII erected the fief as a barony, which did not prevent the king from launching a punitive expedition against the new baron some time later, in order to stop a quarrel over pastures with the intendant of the baron de Graçay.
